Daily updates on hunger strike and Mounavirtham: Need of the hour of TAMILNADU - Government to impose total alcoholic prohibition in Tamilnadu

Dear friends,
Steadfast: Gandhian Sasi Perumal from Salem on a fast in the city on Monday | Martin Louis

The health condition of the 57-year-old Gandhian from Salem, Sasi Perumal, who had been on fast for the past 27 days demanding total prohibition in the State, began deteriorating on Monday. Doctors who examined his physical parameters said if his fast continued for a few more days, there was every likelihood that he might face multi-organ failure. This has left Perumal’s family members worried.
Barred from continuing his fast in a public place, Sasi Perumal was now continuing with his protest at the house of freedom fighter Nellai Jebamani in Mylapore. Social service organisations working towards prohibition in the State — Gandhiya Makkal Iyakkam, Latchiya Kudumbam, Nallore Vattam and Jebamani Janata Party — expressed their solidarity with the Gandhian.  Reports indicated that a few youth were getting ready to continue the indefinite fast started by Perumal. MDMK general secretary Vaiko too had sent a message of encouragement to the Gandhian. Sasi Perumal had sent a memorandum to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa demanding total prohibition in Tamil Nadu.
The Gandhian had put forward a five-point agenda for ensuring prohibition in Tamil Nadu — making it mandatory to include a lesson on the evils of liquor consumption for students of first standard to 12th standard, reducing the working hours of  TASMAC shops, not opening new shops, removing shops that faced opposition from the public and helping to rehabilitate the families affected by liquor consumption.
Please think about your children and show your support as action like be there at venue, spreading this information, send some donation as materials/cash, pamphlets etc. , at least forward this mail to your friends/relatives.
